Learning From the Past

I will not usually use this platform for this purpose, but I think remembering our history is pretty important. I wrote a quick blerb on the topic…

We must acknowledge the evil in our society’s past and present, thus empowering ourselves to prevent or end wrongdoing, but focus on the positive throughout, so we can learn how to live today for a brighter tomorrow.

With everything that is going on around us, riots, murders, destruction of historical landmarks, groups of people saying or doing something then blaming another group for it, people believing obvious lies that they themselves have seen what really happened, socialism rearing its ugly head again, the federal government taking power, republicans hating on democrats and democrats hating republicans, a country that is a “house” truly divided, you can’t help but wonder, has this all happened before?

The Bible says in Ecclesiastes 1:9,

"The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun."

One need only go to history to find many occasion for all of these occurrences. There may be different names for them, but the result is the same.

The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace
(Num. 6:24-26).
