Abiding in Christ

With all of the distractions this world has to offer, how do we give Jesus His rightful place in our lives?

As soon as I give one area of my life to Him, I fail in another. That is why I started this study and if you will bare with me, I would like to take you on this journey with me. My goal is to get to the point in my walk with Christ that I choose His will over mine.

I am starting by stepping back and asking myself a question.

How can we abide in Christ?

It can be a struggle to even have moments where we are truly close to God. The problem is, when you are a born-again Christian, God can live in, but cannot live through you if He is not the most important thing in your life. But how do we get to the point in our walk with God, where we are in Him more often then we are for ourselves?

I must first,

Recognize my distance from Christ.

Next week, I will cover a few verses to determine my Proximity to Christ.

The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace
(Num. 6:24-26).

Does the world see you or Jesus?

In my own personal walk, I have come to understand that in order for God to live through me I must focus on having a daily relationship with him. If I let my prayer life slip or I fail to keep up my daily Bible reading I have found that inevitably my relationship with him starts to slip away, and before I know it I have taken my life back into my own hands. At this point he is residing in me but no longer through me.
