After hearing that two of my family’s favorite Youtubers had “broke up” with Jesus, I began searching for footage of the broadcast.
I found a video that I would like to share. Follow the link below for that video narrated by Ray Comfort (Living Waters).
I pray that all who seek, as Rhett and Link are, will find what they are looking for.
In my late 20s, I also questioned the things my parents, along with the Christian community, had taught me. Through conversation with professors, as well as college friends, I came to believe in Theistic Evolution. I chose to mix the things I had been taught as a child with what the world was teaching. However, one verse continuously made its way into my mind…
Proverbs 3:5 says “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding”.
Trusting in Him.
If I couldn’t lean on my own understanding, then who’s understanding was I going to lean on?
This verse suggests that that person is the Lord Jesus Christ. The only place we can find His sayings is in the Bible.
So, like the Boreans, I went to the scriptures and searched for the answers. Through prayer, searching and trust in the things that Jesus says, I continue to find new ways in which my parents and community where wrong.
Religion should not be confused with faith in Jesus Christ.
At some time in every individual’s life, they must come to a point where they decide what THEY believe.
You can’t inherit a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Your relationship with Him is something that must be nurtured and built on trust.
A letter to Rhett and Link
To you Rhett and Link,
You have been an inspiration in one way or another to every member of my family. Though you may be struggling now, the faith and trust that you say you placed in the savior of this world was not unwarranted. “For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on Him shall not be ashamed” (KJV, Rom. 10:11).
I pray that you will continue to seek the truth and not settle for anything.
The Bible says in Matthew 7:7 to “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:”.
Jesus’ love for you does not require you to believe in Him.
The sin WE have committed in our lives has a consequence. The payment must be made by someone. If you chose to pay that price yourself, He will not stop you.
However… We Have Hope.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).
Even in our darkest moment, steeped in sin, He still loved us enough to pay the debt our own sin has elicited.
“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him” (Romans 5:8-9).
So if you will surrender your life to the trust that you MUST have in Jesus, He will guide you in the path that He has chosen for His honor and glory, not yours.
It is not about what Christ has done for you, but what YOU are doing for Him.
What are you doing for Him in your life?
The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace
